ALSHAMAN TRIAL UPDATE: Prosecution rests after 33 witnesses; Defense rests after 1 witness

UTICA- The prosecution in the attempted murder trial of Aaron Alshaman rested its case Wednesday after calling 33 witnesses to the stand, while the defense rested its case after only calling one witness to the stand.

This development is according to the latest from WKTV.

With closing arguments expected for Thursday, jury deliberations are now on the horizon and they will have to conclude on what appears to be a very haunting question… Did Alshaman, who swore an oath to protect and serve as an Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputy, try to murder his own infant son, his son’s mother and her folks in their Kellogg Avenue address a year ago in the spring?

It is reported that Utica City Police Investigator, Mark Rahn, spent all of Wednesday on the witness stand, where the jury was presented with a video recording of an investigative interview with Alshaman.

During the interview, which occurred during the immediate aftermath of the fire in early April, 2025, Alshaman is reportedly heard saying how he had followed his baby son’s mother to her folks house and really did not know what street it was on.

It is reported that Investigator Rahn found two Google searches for the Kellogg Avenue address on Alshaman's phone, including one three days and the next five days prior to that interview on April 10.

With that said, the defense pointed out that a search warrant was not obtained by Investigator Rahn for Alshaman’s house or vehicle.

The Jury will ultimately decide whether or not Alshaman is guilty on four attempted murder charges and arson.
