Forest Rangers locate lost hiker in Western Adirondacks

WEBB- A lost hiker was rescued earlier this month in the Western Adirondacks.

It was just before 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3 when DEC’s Ray Brook Dispatch received a report of a 70-year-old hiker, who had become lost in the Fulton Chain Wild Forest.

Only a very short while later, Assistant Forest Ranger Winnicki found the hiker about a half-mile off from the trail. DEC officials said the hiker was tired and wet.

Assistant Ranger Winnicki helped guide the hiker out of the woods and to the Rondaxe Road, where a Town of Webb Police Officer transferred the hiker to the Bald Mountain parking lot.

There were no injuries reported.
