BOONVILLE- The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee is recognizing this week for the annual ‘No Empty Chair’ campaign.
The goal, according to officials, is to educate young drivers and teenagers about the harmful consequences from underage drinking and substance use, especially with both prom and graduation time right around the corner.
“This initiative is to keep teens safe so they can enjoy what is ahead of them – prom, graduation, and then moving on to the next step of their lives,” said Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office partnered recently with Adirondack High School to host this year's annual No Empty Chairs press conference (check out our latest on-air segment with Boonville Village Police Chief, Dave Olney, who gave remarks during the event):
County, State, and Local Law Enforcement will increase their presence in the vicinity of local High Schools throughout this week, and will be vigilant about violations of the Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) law, which is designed to provide time for young people to gain critical experience in various traffic scenarios.
