SOURCE: North Country man sentenced to probation; must register as a level one sex offender

WATERTOWN- A North Country man appeared in Jefferson County Court on Monday morning for a sentencing hearing on charges of promoting and possessing sexual performances by a child.

According to the latest developments from WWNY-TV, Cody Schirmer, 28, of Carthage, NY will serve 10-years of probation and must also register as a level one sex offender.

Schirmer was originally found guilty on two counts of promoting a sexual performance of a child, along with another count of possessing a sexual performance of a child.

The investigation was handled by the New York State Police and their Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, along with assistance via the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
