JEFFERSON COUNTY- State Police have released an update concerning the arrest of a North Country area resident on child exploitation charges.

As reported last week, Troopers arrested and charged Christopher L. Patterson, 45, of Carthage, NY with one felony count each of possessing and promoting a sexual performance by a child.

According to updates from investigators released over the weekend, these charges stem from an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force search warrant executed in connection with the transmission of child sexual exploitation material via the internet.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Troop D Computer Crime Unit, Troop D Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Carthage, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Albany.

Patterson was arraigned in Watertown City Court, where he was released to Jefferson County Probation for pre-trial supervision.
