Suspect in physical domestic incident allegedly possessed firearm they were not supposed to have, Deputies say

ROME- A local resident is faced with a pair of charges in the wake of a physical domestic dispute in the outer district.

A specific address or road was not reported by the Sheriff’s Office, but investigators say the incident occurred last Thursday.

While Deputies were on scene trying to complete their investigation, it is reported that William H. Coonrod, 58, started making threats of bodily harm towards other family members who were there along with police.

Deputies soon learned that Coonrod allegedly possessed a firearm that he was not legally permitted to have.

This all went on while in the presence of a child.

The Sheriff’s Office has formally charged Coonrod with one felony count of criminally possessing a firearm and one misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of a child.

At press time, police said Coonrod was held at the County Correctional Facility, pending an arraignment in CAP Court.

A temporary extreme risk protection order was filed and granted by a Supreme Court Justice, due to the alleged threats Coonrod made.

As a result of that court order, police found and seized numerous other firearms.
