Three busted in Rome drug raid

ROME- Authorities say three suspects were busted in an early Wednesday drug raid.

The New York State Police and various other corresponding agencies executed a search warrant at a residence on West Liberty Street.

As a result of their search, investigators seized approximately six ounces of crystal methamphetamine, approximately $3,546 in U.S. currency, digital scales containing residue, and packaging materials.

Police say James Mitchell, 39, and Jule A. Shaw, 42, were each subsequently charged with one felony count each of criminally possessing a controlled substance in the second-degree and criminally possessing a controlled substance in the third-degree (w/the intent to sell), along with criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second-degree.

Mitchell and Shaw were both taken in Oneida County Jail to await centralized arraignment.

Meanwhile, a third suspect, Keith R. Westcott Jr., 42, was also taken into custody on a parole absconder warrant issued by New York State Parole.

Westcott is currently on parole for a prior conviction of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree.

The investigation remains ongoing.
