BOONVILLE- An apparent gas thief has been caught after the village police department reached out to the public asking for assistance in identifying a truck that was involved in a pair of gas larcenies late last month.
According to the Boonville Police, Daniel L. Barnes, 18, of Forestport, NY is formally charged on two counts of petit larceny.
This arrest stems from a pair of complaints at two separate village establishments, including one on June 23 and the next on June 25.
Based on security camera footage obtained and reviewed by the police department, both cases involved an older, silver colored Chevy pick-up.
After making a social media post asking for help with pinpointing who the truck belonged to, the police department said several folks came forward with information that helped lead to the arrest.
Barnes was issued with appearance tickets, with charges returnable to Boonville Town Court at a later date.
