NEW: Driver killed, passenger injured after car wrecked at Adirondack International Speedway over the weekend

NEW BREMEN- A driver is dead in the wake of a crash that occurred over the weekend at Adirondack International Speedway.

It happened sometime shortly after 3:15 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say the cause of this incident remains under investigation, but according to State Police officials, Jared Maguire, of Ballston Spa, NY was driving a 1992 Nissan 240 SX on the race track.

Troopers said Maguire somehow lost control and smashed into a guard rail.

Maguire was pronounced deceased on scene, emergency responders confirmed. With that said, a passenger in Maguire’s vehicle, who police identified as Victor Nunes, 34, of Schenectady, NY received treatment for minor injuries by EMS.

There are no further details available as of this report.
