BOONVILLE-A village resident is accused of child endangerment after a 16-year-old had gotten a tattoo without parental permission.
For context, it is illegal in New York State for any child under the age of 18 to be tattooed, EVEN WITH PARENTAL CONSENT.
According to the Boonville Police Department, Samantha Seelman, 34, of Boonville, NY has been arrested and charged with one count each of tattooing a child less than 18 and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said they received a complaint from a parent on July 5 that their 16-year-old daughter had gotten a tattoo, without parental permission.
At press time, police said that Seelman was issued with appearance tickets and is due to appear in Boonville Town Court at a later date.
There were no further details provided.
***NOTE: The Boonville Village Police Department issued a correction regarding the age of the teenager who received the tattoo. Originally, they said the age of the teen was 17, but their age is actually 16, according to an update late Monday***
