MARTINSBURG- Sheriff’s Deputies in Lewis County have arrested a local resident for allegedly calling police for no legitimate reason.

Brian R. Sprowl, 53, of Martinsburg, NY was charged last Saturday for one count each of falsely reporting an incident, obstruction of governmental administration and harassment in the second-degree.

Police said they responded to a report of a domestic incident that day in the town of Martinsburg.

While speaking to Sprowl at the scene, police allege that he failed to articulate any legitimate purpose for contacting 9-1-1. While trying to reason with Sprowl about his purpose for calling the police, authorities said he became aggressive and made several alleged threats before being placed under arrest.

After processing, Sprowl was released with appearance tickets and is due to address the charges in Martinsburg Town Court at a later date.

There were no further details provided.
