Governor Hochul responds to Border Czar’s remarks to send “unprecedented” number of ICE agents to New York and New York City

ALBANY, NY- Governor Kathy Hochul has responded to remarks made by Border Czar Tom Homan and his threats to flood the state and New York city with an “unprecedented” number of ICE agents.

“We are very focused on helping communities be safe, and local law enforcement should be working with ICE to help remove criminals — full stop,” the Governor stated.

“This is what President Trump said he would do — go after the “baddest of the bad,” the “worst of the worst,” — and that's what we're willing to support.”

But, Governor Hochul went on to clarify that she does not want ICE agents harassing “ordinary people” living in the state and going about their lives in a lawful way.

On the other hand, Mr. Homan, a North Country area native, has blasted Governor Hochul and the state legislature for signing measures, known as the Local Cops, Local Crimes Act, which has ultimately ended enforcement partnerships between ICE and local agencies, the Border Czar claimed.

“We’re going to surge resources in New York,” he told reporters during a recent press conference. “We have to.”

Governor Hochul says she will hold Mr. Homan to his remarks about not allowing another case like what happened in Minneapolis to happen in New York.
