New York law enforcement agencies issues over 110,000 tickets during latest spring click it or ticket campaign

Over 110,000 tickets were issued during the second half of May across New York State in the latest click it or ticket enforcement campaign.

“We will continue our efforts alongside the Department of Motor Vehicles to reduce senseless tragedies caused by those who ignore New York’s seat belt laws,” said New York State Police Superintendent Steven G. James.

The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee sponsored this latest crackdown, which ran from May 18 – 31.

The enforcement blitz, according to the DMV Office, is aimed to remind motorists of the importance of wearing a seat belt and properly restraining children every trip, every seat, every time.

During the campaign specifically, State Police and local law enforcement agencies issued over 13,200 seatbelt tickets, along with over 15,300 speeding tickets.

Several other types of tickets were issued as well, including for alcohol and/or drugs, distracted driving and failing to move over.
