Herkimer County resident accused of DWI in Newport

NEWPORT- A local resident from Herkimer County is faced with DWI charges.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, the New York State Police (Herkimer) arrested and charged George Walker Dieffenbacher, 31, of Newport, NY with one count each of DWI (first offense) and operating a motor vehicle (w/a .08 of 1% BAC or greater).

Troopers say these charges were filed in the town of Newport.

At press time, police said that Dieffenbacher was issued with an appearance ticket.
