Herkimer County resident arrested on petit larceny charge in Newport also charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration

NEWPORT- A larceny investigation in Herkimer County from the winter of 2025 has resulted in the arrest of a local resident.

Joshua A. Guyer, 38, of Newport, NY was arrested and charged on Friday afternoon by the New York State Police (Herkimer) on one misdemeanor count of petit larceny.

In a separate case, Guyer was also charged by the State Police on Friday for one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration in the second-degree.

The larceny charge stems from a larceny complaint filed in January, 2025 in the town of Newport, while the other charges were filed in the city of Utica, NY.

At press time, authorities said that Guyer was issued with an appearance ticket.

There were no further details provided.
