NEW: Officials announce the retirement of Lewis County’s Attorney Joan McNichol

LOWVILLE- Lewis County’s Attorney, Joan McNichol, is retiring.

This development is according to officials from the county government office. She officially began her time as Lewis County’s attorney in the early spring of 2014.

“We are grateful for Joan’s many years of dedicated service and steady leadership,” said the County Manager, Timothy Hunt.

Her retirement was first announced during a recent meeting and was officially released on Tuesday.

Officials describe McNichol’s time in office as a “distinguished tenure of public service to the county.”

Her official retirement date is July 10, 2026.

As of this report, we have no word yet on who is expected take over the helm.
