ON-AIR SEGMENT: Lewis County taxpayer Jamie Deines gives perspective on proposed wind farm near West Leyden, surrounding areas

LEWIS COUNTY- On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Lewis County taxpayer, Jamie Deines, joined North Country News and gave her perspective on a proposed wind farm that would be erected across parts of Southern Lewis County and Northern Oneida County, if such plans come to full fruition.

A representative from Green Power Energy has already taken on questions and concerns from the public, and Deines is one of them. 

Deines is speaking on behalf of various other residents who share the same concerns (see attached opinion piece from last December for more insight and context). 

As a reminder, this project would not require approval from any local town, village, or county officials. Instead, it is being routed through the State Office of Renewable Energy, known as ORES, and that is the issue Deines and others are taking on.
