ON-AIR SEGMENT: Transportation Specialist and Lewis County 'Rail Trail' Project Manager joins North Country News

LEWIS COUNTY- On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Transportation Specialist and Lewis County 'Rail Trail' Project Manager, Don Adams, joined North Country News and focused on work behind the scenes regarding the Rail Trail project.

For context, Lewis County officially acquired the former railroad property from Genesee Valley Transportation in November 2025 as part of its Rails-to-Trails initiative.

As it has been reported for the last several months, the ultimate goal is to utilize these railroad tracks for recreational trail development. 

With that said, there are advocates that are calling for the rails to be re-done and utilized for scenic train rides instead.
