Quick thinking Sheriff’s Deputy successfully pulled crash victim from fiery scene in Oneida County

TRENTON- A Sheriff’s Deputy is credited for pulling a crash victim away from a fiery accident scene over the weekend in Oneida County.

Emergency responders were called out just before 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening to the scene of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on State Route 28 in the town of Trenton.

For now, investigators have learned that Zachary M. Boutin, 34, of New Hartford, NY was driving a Chevy Silverado westbound when he crossed over the eastbound lane and went off the roadway.

Boutin continued into a field before smashing into a tree. Soon following the impact, Boutin’s truck started to catch fire and eventually became fully engulfed.

However, a quick responding Sheriff’s Deputy managed to get there in time to pull Boutin away from the fiery wreck.

Police said that lifesaving medical treatment was then administered by responding EMS.

Though it appears that Boutin was saved from what could have been imminent death, he was still flown to SUNY Upstate Medical Center for injuries that were described to be serious.

Members from the New York State Police, Holland Patent and Barneveld Fire Department, Kuyahoora Valley Ambulance and Life Net Flight all assisted.
