Report: Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush receives U.S. Army Meritorious Public Service Medal on Fort Drum Day

JEFFERSON COUNTY- A North Country lawmaker has received one of the highest civilian honors from the U.S. Army.

Presented on Fort Drum Day at the State Capitol by Major General Scott Naumann, who is the Commanding General of the 10th Mountain Division, New York State Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush says this award, through his eyes, is “the honor of a lifetime.”

“Fort Drum is the economic and cultural backbone of the North Country, and the men and women, who serve there, along with their families, deserve every ounce of support we can give them. I am humbled by this honor,” he emphasized.

According to the award, Assemblyman Blankenbush’s support of the Army’s mission has been invaluable, and his personal understanding of selfless service has been deeply appreciated by the entire Fort Drum community.

As a Vietnam Veteran himself, Assemblyman Blankenbush has long championed the needs of active-duty military personnel, veterans and their families throughout his tenure in the Assembly.
