REPORT: Firefighters save elderly woman in Rome apartment house fire

ROME- An elderly woman was rescued by firefighters in a Tuesday afternoon apartment house blaze.

Oneida County 9-1-1 Dispatch reports the fire occurred moments before 12:20 p.m. at 313 Scott Avenue.

According to the latest reports from WKTV, Rome Firefighters discovered that there were two people home on the second floor when the fire sparked.

One of them managed to escape. Thankfully, firefighters rescued the second person - an elderly woman.

Firefighters said they originally saw smoke coming from the second-floor when they arrived. It took about ten-minutes for emergency responders to have the fire under control.

Three people have been displaced and the Red Cross is assisting.

Fire investigators are working to determine a cause.
