ALBANY, NY- The budget will be three-weeks late if no agreements are reached come Wednesday and the latest reports buzzing around the State Capitol suggest that Governor Hochul would like to see lawmakers include a new blueprint on slapping more limitations against ICE in New York State.

“When it comes to civil enforcement, ICE won’t be able to use our jails, won’t be able to use our police technology funded by our taxpayers and will not be able to use our police personnel,” she declared.

Out of the several proposed limitations against ICE in the budget, some of them reportedly include restrictions against state, local and federal law enforcement from wearing any sort of masks while interacting with the public, while also banning any use of state, local or school resources for immigration activity.

Governor Hochul’s proposals also include restricting ICE agents from state or municipal buildings without a search warrant and also limiting local law enforcement from sharing any immigration status information with ICE, unless it is crime related.

Discussions on these ideas are likely to continue, according to sources.
