State authorities bust two illegal North Country area cannabis storefronts

JEFFERSON & LEWIS COUNTIES- Two North Country area cannabis storefronts have been busted by state authorities for allegedly selling adult use cannabis to minors.
This announcement comes from the office of New York’s Cannabis Management.
Inspections were conducted at two Smoker’s Corner’s establishments, including one in Carthage, NY and one in Lowville, NY.
Both storefronts are reportedly owned by the same operator. Both locations were issued Orders to Seal and padlocked after investigators observed illicit cannabis products, including THC vape products, being sold in violation of New York State law.
Orders to Seal were issued and the following businesses were padlocked:
- Smokers Corner – 7565 S. State Street, Lowville, NY 13367.
- Singh’s Smokers Corner – 700 W End Ave #30, Carthage, NY 13619.

“Selling cannabis to minors is one of the most serious violations we see, and it will not be tolerated,” said John Kagia, Acting Executive Director of the New York State Office of Cannabis Management.
“These actions reflect our responsibility to act quickly when communities raise concerns and to shut down operators who put young people at risk. We will continue to protect New Yorkers and ensure cannabis is sold safely and legally across the state.”
“After receiving community complaints, our investigators conducted inspections and observed the unlawful sale of cannabis products,” said Daniel Haughney, Director of Enforcement and Investigations for the New York State Office of Cannabis Management.
“When businesses sell to minors, we will not hesitate to step in, seize illicit product and shut down those operations. Protecting young people and upholding the integrity of the legal market remains our top priority.”
Consumers are encouraged to purchase cannabis products only from licensed dispensaries to ensure products are tested, labeled, and compliant with New York State regulations.
