Suspect charged with operating while impaired by drugs and other offenses following property damage wreck in Lewis County

NEW BREMEN- A local resident is faced with various charges in the wake of a property damage wreck last weekend in Lewis County.

As reported by the New York State Police (Lowville), William K. Kurtz, 42, of Lowville, NY was formally arrested and charged on May 23 with one count each of operating a motor vehicle (while impaired by drugs – first offense), criminally possessing a controlled substance in the seventh-degree, criminally possessing a weapon in the fourth-degree (convicted felon) and aggravated unlicensed operation in the second-degree.

Troopers were dispatched late that same afternoon to a report of a property damage wreck on the Erie Canal Road, town of New Bremen. No injuries were reported.

At press time, police said that Kurtz was released on his own recognizance.
