UPDATE: Deceased pedestrian identified following incident with vehicle near West Carthage

JEFFERSON COUNTY- The pedestrian who was killed in this week's incident involving a Mitsubishi Outlander near West Carthage, NY has been identified by authorities.

The victim has been identified as Christopher M. Perciful, 45, from Watertown, NY, who was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of the crash.

It happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday on State Route 126 in the town of Champion.

A preliminary State Police investigation determined that Jeramie J. Palladino, 53, of Carthage, NY, was traveling eastbound on State Route 126 and struck Perciful, who was walking eastbound.

Investigators said Perciful was believed to have been in the roadway and wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the West Carthage Fire Department, Carthage Area Rescue, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
