UPDATE: Lyonsdale accident Thursday evening now confirmed a double fatality, police say

LYONSDALE- An update has surfaced from authorities concerning Thursday evening’s accident in the southern end of Lewis County, which is now confirmed to be a double fatality.

It happened shortly after 7:00 p.m. near 3823 Marmon Road.

According to Sheriff’s Investigators, Jeremiah Kim, 26, of Utica, NY and a passenger, Brody Webster, 18, of Herkimer, NY were heading East in a BMW Sedan.

Police said that Kim went off the roadway at a high rate of speed and crashed into the river nearby.

A separate Mazda vehicle, driven by Christ Poh, 21, also went off the road and ended up partially submerged in the river after striking a tree first.

Poh managed to escape and was taken to Wynn Hospital for unspecified injuries.

Unfortunately, investigators say despite lifesaving efforts from bystanders and first responders, both Kim and Webster were both pronounced deceased.

Several agencies responded to assist on scene, including the New York State Police, Port Leyden Fire and Ambulance, Lyons Falls Fire and Ambulance, Glenfield Fire Department, Constableville and Boonville Ambulance, New Bremen and Martinsburg Fire Departments, New York State DEC, Lewis County Dive Team, Lewis County Search & Rescue, Groff’s Towing and the Region 6 Spill Response Team.

The Sheriff’s Office extends their most sincere condolences to those suffering loss from this incident.
