With budget voting aimed this month, Lewis County schools present proposed budgets for upcoming 2026-2026 academic year

LEWIS COUNTY- It is almost school budget voting time and districts statewide have prepared their budget plans to be soon approved or struck down for next academic year.

In Lewis County, Beaver River has proposed a budget just north of $23.7 million, which is over a $522,000 increase from the current budget. If approved, the district tax levy will increase by two-percent ($121,676).

Across the way in Copenhagen, NY, their school district has proposed a budget just over $12.7 million, which represents less than a one-percent increase from the current one. A tax levy increase of two-percent has also been proposed.

Meanwhile, if district taxpayers pass the proposed budget for Harrisville Central School District, which is just under $11.5 million, a tax levy increase of nearly four-percent will be included.

Checking in with Lowville Academy, their proposed budget rings-in just over $32 million and if approved, the tax levy will also increase nearly four-percent.

Finally, with South Lewis Central School, their district taxpayers will vote on a budget just north of $35 million, which will include a tax levy increase of 2.79 percent, if approved.
