ONEIDA COUNTY-A fuel spill this week in the very northeastern part of the town of Forestport prompted a response from various agencies.
It happened sometime shortly after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on State Route 28.
According to the Woodgate Fire Department, the primary agency on scene, a box truck was making its way onto 28 from Newell Road when the fuel tank made direct contact with the roadway and tore open.
All New York State Spill Response Teams and the DOT were notified of the situation.
Fortunately, most of the spill was mitigated thanks to the assistance of Otter Lake Fire Department.
When all was said and done, emergency officials said roughly 75-gallons of diesel fuel spilled out along the roadway.
No injuries were reported.
