Boonville resident charged with felony sex abuse and misdemeanor acting in manner injurious to child

BOONVILLE- A local resident in Northern Oneida County is faced with a pair of accusations, including a felony, following a sex offense investigation this past week.

According to the New York State Police (Marcy), Christopher C. Merry, 71, of Boonville, NY was arrested and charged on Friday for one felony count of sex abuse in the first-degree (victim less than 13) and one misdemeanor count of acting in a manner injurious to a child (under 17).

Troopers said this arrest stems from a town of Boonville sex offense complaint, which was filed last Thursday afternoon.

At press time, police said that Merry’s arrest status was listed as held (w/out bail).

There were no further details provided.
