Boonville teen arrested after stealing town owned dump truck and two other vehicles released to parent; due to appear in youth court

ONEIDA COUNTY- A local youth suspect is faced with felony accusations after going on an alleged vehicle stealing spree over the weekend.

On Sunday evening, the Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a 16-year-old teen from Boonville, NY on one felony count each of criminally possessing stolen property in the fourth-degree, along with two felony counts each of criminally possessing stolen property in the third-degrees.

A name for the juvenile suspect has been withheld, due to age and youthful offender status.

According to police investigation, authorities have determined this teenage suspect managed to steal a town of Boonville dump-truck from the Department of Public Works property.

The youth managed to drive a-few miles outside of the village and made it to Sudal Hill Road, where the dump-truck became disabled.

Police determined the teenage suspect went on to steal a second truck from a nearby property and leave it on Potato Hill Road before stealing a third truck.

After that truck involved in a motor vehicle accident, State Troopers managed to stop the teenage suspect without any further incident.

At press time, investigators said the juvenile was arraigned and released to the custody of a parent.

An appearance has been scheduled for Oneida County Youth Court for Monday.
