Boonville teen forcibly removed from vehicle as police investigated dangerous driver complaint on West Street

BOONVILLE- A pair of village teenagers and an adult suspect are all faced with charges stemming from a dangerous driver complaint earlier this month.

This development stems from a dangerous driver complaint authorities received on July 8 on West Street. While Boonville Police was investigating, it is reported that the suspected vehicle drove by at a high rate of speed.

Patrols immediately pursued and the suspect continued onto Post Street before turning into a driveway.

Despite repeated orders to exit the vehicle, the driver, who turned out to be a 17-year-old male, refused to comply with officers and also refused to provide identification, the Boonville Police said.

It is alleged that the male suspect told police to leave the property, while also denying having been driving the vehicle.   

Despite ignoring commands, the teenager was soon forcibly removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.

Police discovered the teenage suspect had a suspended driver's license. 

Meanwhile, the 16-year-old sister of the male suspect was present during all of this and allegedly obstructed the arrest while also tampering with evidence inside the vehicle.

The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, possession of alcoholic beverages with intent to consume as well as misdemeanor and violation charges of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The 17-year-old male was processed at the Boonville Police Station and released to his mother. He was scheduled to appear in Oneida County Family Court.

Just this past Wednesday, police arrested the 16-year-old female for felony tampering with evidence and misdemeanor obstructing governmental administration.

The 16-year-old was processed and then taken to the Oneida County Youth Part Court, where she was turned over to the court for further proceedings.

As the last piece of the puzzle for this investigation, Stacey L. Genovese, 36, of Boonville was arrested on Thursday stemming from the original case regarding both juveniles.

Genovese is formally charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Genovese was processed at the Boonville Police Department and released with an appearance ticket, returnable in the Town of Boonville Court on a later date.
