Lewis County suspect faced with several charges for allegedly running over various road signs across three townships

GREIG, NEW BREMEN & WATSON- A local resident from Lewis County has been arrested on a grand jury sealed indictment warrant for allegedly running over several road signs across three townships.

According to Sheriff's Investigators, Lucas J. Bender, 20, of Croghan, NY was formally charged on Thursday with four felony counts of criminal mischief in the third-degree; one felony count of criminal mischief in the second-degree; along with four other counts each of reckless endangerment in the second-degree, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Authorities say Bender is accused of intentionally running over several road signs throughout the towns of Greig, New Bremen and Watson.

Damages rang in over $1,800, police said. These signs were owned by either the county or the townships.

At press time, police said that Bender was processed and held at the County Jail - awaiting an arraignment in Lewis County Court at a later date.
