WEST TURIN- A collision late last Summer in Lewis County involved a driver who was allegedly impaired.
After a nine-month investigation, Sheriff’s Investigators announced on Wednesday the arrest of Russell J. Rocker, 55, of Port Leyden, NY for one felony count of aggravated unlicensed operation in the first-degree, along with a misdemeanor of DWAI (drugs) and additional counts of failing to keep right and speeds exceeding conditions.
On August 29, 2025, Rocker was reportedly heading southwest on State Route 26 in the town of West Turin.
While Approaching the intersection with George Kraeger Road, police said that Rocker failed to negotiate a curve and struck an oncoming tractor trailer.
The driver of the tractor trailer rig was un-injured, but emergency officials said that Rocker suffered serious injuries and was taken to Wynn Hospital by Boonville Ambulance.
Through their investigation, police determined that Rocker was impaired when the crash occurred and his driver’s license was also revoked.
Following an arraignment in Lewis County Court, Rocker was released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in West Turin Town Court at a later date.
