GREIG- A local man suspected of drunken driving is facing charges after allegedly trying to flee a crash scene with an uninvolved party in Lewis County.

Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched last Tuesday afternoon to reports of a motor vehicle crash on the South Chases Lake Road, town of Greig.

Initial reports from dispatch suggested that a male subject was standing in the crash area and appeared intoxicated.

When patrols arrived, the man was gone, however; police soon learned that he was picked up by an uninvolved party and tried leaving the scene.

Patrols received a vehicle description and conducted a traffic stop only a short distance from the scene.

Police have identified the suspect as Scott J. Teal, 34, of Glenfield, NY. He was hauled back to the scene of the crash, where he failed field sobriety tests and was taken in to the Public Safety Building.

During processing, police say that Teal registered a .19% BAC.

Teal was formally charged with aggravated DWI, DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and failing to keep right.

Teal was issued with appearance tickets and is due to answer the charges in Greig Town Court at a later date.
