LOWVILLE- On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, Lewis County Manager, Timothy Hunt, joined North Country News to discuss the ongoing EMS issue.
In a nutshell, local emergency officials will agree that there is a shortage of staff members across all levels, including specifically for volunteers.
The next step is to figure out the best way for local leaders to address the issue and find the best pathway forward.
The way things stand for now, the county has aims to create its own EMS system based on results from an independent study on the local EMS system.
Meanwhile, Lewis County Search & Rescue would like to see their agency expand to establish more coverage county-wide.
