
BOONVILLE- A local resident is faced with a felony accusation for allegedly lighting a couch on fire.
According to the Village of Boonville Police Department, Calvin Williamson, 20, of Boonville, NY was arrested and charged on Wednesday with one felony count of attempted arson in the second-degree.
Officers responded to calls for a fire and domestic incident shortly after noontime on Wednesday at 118 James Street.
Investigation revealed that Williamson allegedly set his own couch on fire, on purpose.
A resident was present in a separate apartment at the same address while the incident occurred, the Village Police said.
A local contractor, who happened to be on the scene, doused the flames and called 9-1-1.
When all was said and done, Williamson was processed and taken to the centralized arraignment facility, where he was held pending further court proceedings.
