BOONVILLE- Two local residents are faced with a felony accusation for allegedly possessing a firearm without a proper pistol permit.
Officials from the Village of Boonville Police say a woman contacted the department on June 15 and requested to speak with an officer.
While at the main police office, the woman produced a .22 Cal Ruger pistol to surrender it to police.
She claimed how the pistol was gifted to her about seven-months-ago at a village residence.
According to the village police department, neither person had a New York State Pistol Permit and as a result, Joseph Roby, 67, of Boonville, NY and Nicole Marrero, 57, of West Leyden, NY were both formally charged with one felony count each of criminally possessing a firearm.
Roby and Marrero were issued appearance tickets, with charges returnable to Boonville Town Court at a later date.
There were no further details provided.
